Speaking to PTI ahead of the IPL auction on the 19th of December, Amre stated that he was satisfied with his efforts as a talent scout. He revealed that his job was done as Indian players like Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw were established at the highest level and expressed his happiness in being part of that process. Amre said:

Giving more clarity on Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour’s recent appointment, Amre expressed his disappointment at not getting a chance to train the best that India had to offer and put the blame on the BCCI. He said:

Apart from Amre, former Indian player Yuvraj Singh had also previously expressed concerns over Rathour’s appointment stating that the former Indian batsmen was not the right person to handle the ever-changing technique of the modern cricketers and had questioned his T20 experience. Amre also spoke on the same lines and cleared that the BCCI selected whomsoever they wanted to, irrespective of the quality of the applicants for a particular job. He said:
