Even though the auction is a low-key affair there will be a lot of people following it. That’s the beauty of the IPL and its auction. People want to know which players have been bought by their favourite team and for how much money. They want to know who got the highest bid whereas who all went unsold. There are also talks that a part of this year’s IPL won’t take place in India....

Unlike previous auctions, the 2019 IPL auctions happened in December, at least a month earlier because of the early start to IPL. IPL franchises always had the opportunity to witness other T20 leagues like Big Bash League and Bangladesh Premier League before they went into the auction, but it wasn’t the case this time around. As a result, few players who performed extremely well in these T20 leagues went unsold in the IPL 2019 auction, which happened in December....

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw leads the batting charts for DC with 130 runs and Kagiso Rabada is their top wicket-taker with 4 wickets....

While Mumbai have already booked a playoff spot, it’s a do-or-die game for the Knight Riders. To keep their playoffs alive the visitors not only have to win this game, but also hope for the Sunrisers Hyderabad to lose against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. If SRH win against RCB, then KKR would have to defeat MI by a huge margin of 100 runs or possibly even more, as their net run rate is much lower than that of SRH....

Mumbai Indians have had an awful start to their IPL 2019 campaign as they have lost two of their three league games so far. Rohit Sharma has not been at his best both with the bat and with his captaincy, which is a major concern for the hosts. Having lost their last match to KXIP, Mumbai Indians would be hoping to bounce back in front of their home crowd when they host the defending champions....

RCB will be full of confidence after a close win against the Chennai Super Kings and their prime intention will be to win all their remaining games. Kings XI Punjab’s chances of making the playoffs seem more realistic but they have hit a major roadblock and their habit of losing games in the middle of the season hurt them last season. They desperately need a win to regain their lost momentum....

CSK have embarked on their title defense in style and they have won both their games till now and have bowled really well and batted cleverly. KKR meanwhile have ruthlessly batted their oppositions out of the game and edged SRH out before smashing the KXIP bowlers all around the park to inflict a crushing win. With plenty of match-defining moments over the last 8 matches, it was a tough time for the captains of sides who had to handle a lot of pressure in order to get the required results....
